5 Steps to the perfect beard in 2020

So it's 2020 and you've decided to get serious about growing a real beard. What you may not know is that there's a science to having a beard that turns heads. See, there are several things that you can do to to ensure that your beard isn't some shabby, dry, patchy looking clusters of hair that you've decided to let roll up on your face. In my 25 years as a professional barber, I have found the beard science to creating the beard of your dreams. The following are 5 tips that will put you on the path to beard greatness!

 1. Give it time

First off, if you're going to grow a beard, you have to be  prepared to wait the time it takes to grow it. Facial hair grows 1/2 an inch per month on average. Therefore, a six-inch beard could take you a whole year to see so have some patience. It's coming!

2. Massage and Groom facial hair

Waiting on your beard to show up can be a  task that seems go nowhere! Give your facial hair a little help by creating a regular massage and grooming regimen. Regularly massaging and grooming your beard gets the blood flowing and sets the hair follicles on a path to a lengthy, well-groomed beard. The key here is stimulation.

What to do?

- Keep your facial hair clean and free of oil and dirt by cleaning daily.

- Brush the hair you do see on your face. Brushing the hair helps to stimulate hair follicles. Stimulation of the hair follicles causes the hair on your face to grow stronger,  bringing about healthy facial hair that wasn't there before. Start to brush or comb the hair (depending on current length) throughout the day, not only will you be promoting hair growth but this will also get you in the habit of maintaining your beard when it starts to get some length.

3. Get some reputable beard products

Don't be fooled! a good looking beard takes some work and believe me, your beard needs help! Add some essential oils to your grooming regimen. Essential oils is a great way to get your facial hair growth into gear. groom theory essential oils groomtheory.comJojoba oil, shea butter, bees wax, are just s few of the ingredients that will definitely get your beard into gear. Groom Theory Products are a great way to get all these essentials for your beard growth needs. 4. Call in reinforcements

For some men, some hair in particular areas of the face grow a little slower than on other parts causing a gap here and there on your beard. Again, give it time. Continue to stimulate but just because your beard may not be cooperating just yet, doesn't mean that you have to miss out on the beard of your dreams. Here are a few reinforcements you can take advantage of to help you over the hump.

  • Hair fibers
  • Color sticks
  • Hair tint

5. Keep up the good work

Now that you've got a steady foundation and a good grooming regimen, you are on the way to beard excellence! Continue to groom and feed your beard essential oils daily through quality products. Your beard will only look as good as you treat it so keep it clean and nourished and don't be afraid to add some enhancers to give it that stand out look you want.
